Women’s Golf

We have a very strong women’s group at Blackwood Golf Club and do everything we can to welcome new members. Our women share a passion for golf and for socialising afterwards.

We are committed to welcoming and encouraging those new to golf and over 25% of our current members have joined the Club after completing our Get Into Golf (formerly known as Give Golf a Go) and Junior/MyGolf programs in the last few years.  All new members can access our successful buddy system.

The Club is a proud signatory to the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter that aims to enable more women and girls to maximise their potential at all levels of the sport.

Weekday golf

Around 70-90 women play in our weekday Tuesday competition over 9 or 18 holes (Tuesday mornings are reserved exclusively for women but the competition runs all day). The competition caters for players of all levels with prizes across 4 grades.  Proshop competitions are held on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and the club runs competitions on all other days.  You don’t have to enter a competition to play golf, except on Tuesday and Sunday morning and all day Saturdays  when the competition is compulsory.  Many of our women also play socially on Thursdays and Fridays and our booking system makes it easy to find someone to play with.

Twilight Golf

In summer there is a popular 9 hole mixed Twilight competition on Thursday afternoons followed by dinner and prize-giving which is run by the Social Committee.

Weekend Golf

Women who are 7 day members are welcome to book tee times at any time on Saturdays. 6 day members can book tee times at any time on Sundays or join our Sunday Women’s group (generally women who work or who are students). The Sunday Women generally book tee times around 8:30am and meet beforehand to mix up the groups so everyone can get to know each other.

Pennant and Interclub Competitions

Blackwood fields 6 teams in the match play competitions against other clubs. Currently we field teams in the Sanderson Cup (A1), A3, A4, Cleek 1 and 2 (GA 16-28 handicap range) and Hickory Stick (GA 25-40 handicap range). We also have a number of inter-club competitions through the year for golfers at all levels which provide opportunities to play at many of Adelaide’s golf courses.
